It was a busy Hertiage Day weekend for the Katlehong police, with the arrest of 51 suspects.
The arrests were made through several operations that started on Friday, September 23 and included stop-and-searches and roadblocks in different areas throughout Katlehong.
The operations were held by the Katlehong police’s Crime Prevention Unit with help from members of the EMPD.
Charges included various different traffic offences, assault, rape, shoplifting, possession of an unlicensed firearm, drinking alcohol in public, driving under the influence of alcohol and possession of drugs, which included dagga and nyaope.
All of the arrested suspects are expected to appear in Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court soon.
