The South African Weather Service warned Johannesburg residents to prepare for a significant drop in temperatures last weekend as a cold front swept in. It was reported that temperatures would drop into the teens from the Friday evening and only return to the mid-twenties from the Tuesday. In addition to the cold weather warning the weather service also warned of severe thunderstorms and damaging winds.

A 62-year-old man is lucky to be alive, following an alleged robbery at a business in Wadeville recently. It is believed the man was closing the business when he was approached by the robbers, pushed back into the shop and forced to lie on the floor.

A 19-year-old Selection Park woman dramatically escaped from her kidnappers, on September 22, reported the Springs Advertiser. Jodi van Heerden jumped from a black SUV travelling in Wit Road, towards Lodeyko, after she was assaulted and kidnapped from her house in Grace Avenue, Selection Park on the East Rand.

4. Two dead, five critical after taxi shooting: https://bit.ly/2czQezy

Two people were killed and five people were in a critical condition after a shooting on the N12 between Daveyton and Etwatwa in Benoni at 6am, on September 20. “Reports from the scene indicate that those killed and wounded were in the taxi,” said Athlenda Mathe, media liaison officer for Netcare 911.

A 34-year-old man was recently arrested by an off-duty officer from the Germiston Police Station. The officer was on his way to work when he saw a suspicious man pushing a generator on wheels and covered with a blanket.
