Three nabbed for business robbery

Three men were arrested, while one escaped, after a Rietfontein Road business robbery.

While officers were on a recent patrol of Rietfontein Road, in Primrose, they noticed four men running towards the Makause informal settlement.

The police chased after the men, aged between 25 and 37 years old, and were able to catch three of them while the fourth escaped.

While they were searching and questioning the men a Rietfontein Road shop owner came running to the scene.

“He told officers that the four men had entered his shop and threatened him with a firearm and demanded money.

“They took R2 500 in cash and ran out of the shop,” explained Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

During the search of the accused, officers found a toy gun and R582.

The men were taken to the Primrose Police Station where they were detained pending their appearance in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court.

The Primrose SAPS station commander, Col Albertina Vesi thanked the arresting officers for their swift action which led to the arrests.
