Siblings threatened with sharp object during robbery

Primrose police thank community member for assisting in arrest.

The Primrose police have commended a community member who recently assisted in the arrest of a 20-year-old man.

“The community member witnessed the alleged armed robbery of two siblings in Malvern East,” said Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

“He chased the suspect as he ran away and was able to corner him and call police to the scene.”

When officers arrived on the scene the victim told police that he had been walking along Geldenhuys Road with his sister when the accused approached them and threatened them with a sharp object.

He took a cell phone valued at R1 000 before fleeing.

“We thank the community member for not taking the law into his own hands and handing the suspect over to the police,” said Maome.

The man was arrested and will appear in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court soon.
