Marching against crime

The streets of Primrose were abuzz with anti-crime marchers.

Mamba Security Primrose, together with the Primrose police and EMPD members, took to the streets of the suburb in a march against crime and drugs, on Saturday.

“The march was also aimed at asking people to help the police and security companies to fight crime,” said the franchise owner of Mamba Security Primrose, Elaine Griffin.

“We need to fight crime together; we can’t do it alone.

“The community needs to stand together and, in that way, we can fight crime.”

The march began and ended at Hoërskool Vryburger High School.

The participants held placards and handed out pamphlets to fellow community members, encouraging them to “say no to crime and drugs”.

“I feel a lot safer knowing that there are people who volunteer their time to keep our area safe,” said Primrose resident Val Patterson, who was also part of the march.

“We are tired of crime and problems in the area.

“We need to get more support, get the schools involved and create awareness because we need to stand together as a community.”

Ward 36 councillor Wendy Morgan was among those raising awareness.

“The community needs to be involved, we need to stand up and say no to crime and drugs,” she said.

“We really must take charge of our own lives and stand together as a community.

“We need to have more of such events and help make a difference in our community.

“Thank you to all the people who came forward, it was awesome,” said the administrator of Mamba Security Primrose, Edith Vorster.
