As the proud host of the SA Innovation Summit, the metro is pleased to announce that the much anticipated conference will kick-off from today, Wednesday, September 21 and run until September 24.
The event takes place at the Birchwood Hotel and OR Tambo Conference Centre.
Ekurhuleni’s executive mayor Clr Mzwandile Masina will conduct the official opening under the topic: Ekurhuleni’s vision to be a city driven by innovation.
The summit will offer delegates the opportunity to participate in thought-provoking presentations by world-renowned speakers during workshops and plenary sessions.
It also offers exciting exhibitions and food stalls that are fun and can be enjoyed by the whole family.
The Match and Invest Lounge will open on Thursday, September 22 with formal meetings with designers and delegates on a virtual platform pitching for investors’ time.
The Pitching Den and the Inventors’ Garage competition opens in the afternoon.
On Friday, September 23 the Market on the Edge and Youth Day opens with exhibitions of prototypes and new inventions presented by designers.
A “hackathon” team will, over a 24-hour period, get the opportunity to strategise, code and mull over the challenges provided to them at a pre-hackathon briefing.
The summit has a Lego pit where participants will be able to build a future city.
