Woman runs to police station after attack

A Makause informal settlement resident was recently arrested after he allegedly attacked his girlfriend.

A woman from the Makause informal settlement recently ran to the Primrose Police Station for protection, after an alleged attack by her 28-year-old boyfriend.

“The complainant alleged that she was sitting outside her shack with a friend when her boyfriend, against whom she has a protection order, arrived and went into her shack,” explained Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

The woman asked him what he was doing in her home, but he refused to answer.

“She claims that, after she questioned him, he turned around and began to assault her,” Maome said.

Officers were able to trace the suspect and he was arrested and charged with domestic violence and violating a protection order.

He has since appeared in the Germiston Magistrates Court, where the case was postponed for trial.
