Woman held captive for three days

A woman was allegedly held captive and raped for three days in the Marathon informal settlement.

The Primrose police recently arrested a 30-year-old for man for an alleged rape.

The arrest was made in the Marathon informal settlement, after a woman came to the Primrose Police Station to open a case against the suspect.

She told police that the man had called her and invited her out for the evening. She agreed and the pair went out for a few drinks.

“After their drinks, the victim alleged, the suspect took her to his shack where he held her captive for three days.

“During this time, it was reported, he also raped the victim,” said communications officer for the Primrose police, Sgt Styles Maome.

The woman managed to escape with the help of her boyfriend.

“Her boyfriend came looking for the victim and while he confronted the accused she was able to escape,” Maome said.

The man was arrested and will be held at the Primrose Police Station pending his appearance in the Germiston Magistrates Court.
