1. Eight-year-old boy kidnapped, found dead: https://bit.ly/2bO4zsE

A tragedy played out at the Simmer and Jack landfill site recently when the body of an eight-year-old boy who had been reported kidnapped was discovered. The boy’s body was found along with his 41-year-old alleged kidnapper’s body under a duvet on top of a hill at the landfill site. They were discovered at noon by workers at the landfill site who saw the duvet and picked it up making the gruesome find.

2. Mystery surrounds house fire: https://bit.ly/2c84dx2

Firefighters from Ekurhuleni Disaster and Emergency Management Services (DEMS) responded swiftly to a house fire, last Tuesday. The fire in Oak Avenue, Primrose, happened at about 12.58pm and gutted the six-room home. “Upon the arrival of the firefighters, the occupant of the house, an elderly lady, was standing astonished outside the gate watching her house and its contents going up in flames,” said William Ntladi, district manager media liaison for DEMS.

3. Two alleged copper cable thieves crushed under soil: https://bit.ly/2btO1Xj

An Ekurhuleni Disaster and Emergency Management Services (DEMS) rescue team, SAPS members and the SAPS K9 Unit, worked together to recover two bodies, recently. The bodies of two unknown men were crushed by soil in a trench in Knights Road, Knights. “A rescue team responded to the scene immediately after receiving the call from a member of the public at about 11.45am. Upon investigation on the scene they found the two bodies crushed by a mass of soil inside the trench,” said William Ntladi, district manager media liaison for DEMS.

A security company warned residents to be careful what they put in the rubbish bin. The warning follows an episode in which a recycler was found in possession of a copy of an ID and bank cards that did not belong to him.
