Man arrested after business robbery

A 24-year-old man was arrested for a Rietfontein Road business robbery.

The Primrose police were recently called to a business in Rietfontein Road, in Primrose, where a 24-year-old man had allegedly broken in.

“The complainant informed the police that he had heard a noise in the front yard of the property and moments later saw a man pushing a bicycle towards the gate.

“He shouted at the man asking what he was doing there,” said Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

The accused allegedly dropped the bicycle and ran towards the gate with a blue bag, which the complaint later discovered was full of tools.

“The man chased the suspect and was able to catch him and lock him in a storeroom to await the police’s arrival,” said Maome.

The man was arrested and detained at the Primrose Police Station.

He has since appeared in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court, where the matter was postponed for a bail application.
