Police bring smiles and soup

In celebration of Women’s Month the Germiston police visited Leeuwpoort Primary School.

Leeuwpoort Primary School pupils were delighted by a visit from members of the Germiston SAPS, the Germiston Crime Prevention Youth Desk and the Germiston FCS (Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences) Unit, on Friday.

As part of the members’ Women’s Month activities they cooked soup for the 532 children at the school and came along to serve the children lunch.

The children were thrilled to tuck into their vegetable soup and bread. The SAPS thanked Albany for donating the bread and all the SAPS members who donated the ingredients for the soup.

Acting principal of the school, Jennifer Wills said, “We are very happy the police members have joined us today.

“We appreciate every donation we receive and we appreciate the fact that the community is heeding our call to assist the children.”

Later on Friday Wills said the New Anointing Church was coming to paint at the school and bringing donations for the pupils.

Johnson Matthey was also bringing a donation of 15 dustbins for classrooms, as well as six pairs of school shoes for needy pupils.
