Man dies after being hit by train

A man died on Friday morning after he was hit by a train in Germiston.

The Elsburg SAPS responded to the scene of a train accident on Friday morning.

An unidentified man, believed to be aged between 30 and 40 years old, was hit and killed by a train sometime between 5am and 6am, on the Tedstoneville railway line.

“It is believed the man was walking along the railway line when he was struck by the train,” said Const Daphney Phooko, communications officer for the Elsburg SAPS.

“He sustained injuries to his upper body and was certified dead on the scene by paramedics.”

The man was wearing blue Adidas takkies, a brown hoodie, a yellow T-shirt, a black jersey and black trousers.
