Young boy knocked over while walking on pavement

A 10-year-old boy sustained moderate injuries when he was struck by a vehicle while he was walking on the pavement.

The accident took place at the corner of Doctor T Matsipa and Major Sibanze streets, in Katlehong, at about 7am, on Wednesday morning.

“The exact details as to the cause of the accident will remain a subject for police investigation and comment,” said Athlenda Mathe, media liaison officer for Netcare911.

“Reports from the scene indicate that the boy was on his way to school at the time of the accident.”

Netcare911 paramedics stabilised the boy at the scene before transporting him to a nearby hospital for further medical care.
