Sasonah Lodge reaches out to the community

Sasonah Lodge is appealing to the community for sponsorship.

In May 2004, Sasonah Lodge opened its doors in Lambton.

The centre cares for Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, cancer and frail care patients, and offers around-the-clock nursing care, as well as home-based care.

“Sasonah Lodge is a home away from home, where we try our utmost to eliminate the clinical type of environment and allow our patients to do as they would do in their own homes,” explained owner Sister Colleen Nunn.

However, this type of care comes at a price and due to circumstances beyond the centre’s control they find themselves in need of help.

“We are not subsidised by the government and, therefore, rely on our patient’s families, as well as donations from companies to assist us throughout the month.

“We are very fortunate to receive food donations from several stakeholders, but, sadly, we cannot pay bills with food donations,” said Colleen.

The home currently has 19 patients.

“We are relatively unknown, even though we have been open for 12 years,” said Colleen.

Sasonah Lodge is dedicated to helping others, but to continue to do this they need the support of the community.
