EMPD pounce on suspected drug dealer

Alleged drug dealer found in possession of crystal meth, Kat, Tai-white and ecstasy.

The EMPD Drug Enforcement Unit, acting on information furnished by concerned members of the Primrose community, were responsible for a suspected drug dealer landing behind bars, on Wednesday.

The man was found in possession of drugs worth just over R23 000 on the streets.

“Close monitoring of the suspect was conducted over a period of two days,” said Lieut-Col Wilfred Kgasago, spokesman for the EMPD.

This suspected drug dealer was arrested in his flat, in Primrose, on Wednesday.

“On Wednesday, at about 9am, the metro police raided the suspect’s flat in Zinya Street.

“They found 46 packets of crystal meth valued at R18 400, eight ziplock bags of Kat valued at R3 000, eight packets of Tai-white valued at R1 600 and two ecstasy tablets valued at R300.”

The 38-year-old Nigerian man was taken to the Primrose Police Station and charged with possession of and dealing in illicit substances.

He was due to appear in the Germiston Magistrates Court on Thursday, August 18.
