Team work ensures police nab three

The Elsburg police nabbed three would-be housebreakers recently.

Police members on duty in the Elsburg Client Services Centre, recently, were performing their duties when two men ran into the centre.

The men said that three men were busy breaking into a property in Plein Street, in Elsburg.

The police quickly responded to the complaint and, upon their arrival, two suspects started jumping over walls, trying to escape.

“With exceptional team work the members managed to nab the two suspects who were running away,” said Const Daphney Phooko, communications officer for the Elsburg SAPS.

“The third suspect disguised himself as a builder next door to the property he had been breaking into, but one of the builders alerted the police to this fact and he was arrested.”

The three men, from Kenya, Tanzania and Zanzibar, aged between 22 and 39, were detained at the Elsburg Police Station and faced a charge of housebreaking, when they appeared in the Germiston Magistrates Court.

Their case was postponed for plea and trial and they were transferred to Boksburg Prison to await the start of their trial.
