Man found with unlicensed firearm

During a stop-and-search in Oak Avenue police discovered an unlicensed firearm in the possession of a 20-year-old man.

Members of the Primrose police recently arrested a 20-year-old man for being in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

The arrest was made in Oak Avenue in Primrose East during a routine patrol of the area.

“Officers were patrolling when they noticed a suspicious vehicle parked in Oak Avenue,” explained Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

They approached the vehicle and asked that the four occupants exit the vehicle to be searched.

“During the search officers found a black and silver 7.65 firearm loaded with three rounds of ammunition in the possession of one of the men,” Maome said.

Unable to produce proof of ownership, the man was arrested and taken to the Primrose Police Station pending his appearance in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court.
