Entries for the metro’s annual national Thami Mnyele Fine Arts Awards are now open.

The metro calls on all artists to participate in the 29th instalment of the contemporary fine art competition by submitting their works before the August 18 submission deadline.

The judges will select an exhibition of the best artistic work and the winning artist will walk away with R160 000 in prize money.

The selected art works must have been completed in the 12 months prior to the competition.

Works may be entered on August 16, 17 and 18 August, from 9am to 7pm, at the Coen Scholtz Recreation Centre, Mooifontein Road, Birchleigh North, Kempton Park.

Satellite entry points are available at the Boksburg Library on August 16, from 9am to 4pm, the Springs Art Gallery on August 16 and 17, from 9am to 7pm and the Katlehong Art Centre, 203 Sontonga Street, Phooko Section on August 17, from 9am to 4pm.

This year’s competition will be presented in collaboration with the Lizamore and Associates Mentorship Programme.
