Smash-and-grabber nabbed by police

Germiston police made an arrest after they received a tip-off.

The Germiston police received a tip-off involving a smash-and-grabber, active at the corner of Tide and Knights roads, on Thursday.

“Police rushed to the scene where the man was waiting to smash-and-grab motorists at the traffic lights,” said the head of communications for the Germiston SAPS, Capt George Raphulu.

“The suspect ran as soon as he saw the police, who gave chase and managed to arrest him.

“The suspect, aged 34, was in possession of a knife, laptop and three cellphones.

“The suspect will be charged with possession of car-breaking implements and will appear in the Germiston Magistrates Court, soon.”
