Victim support unit members rewarded for hard work

The members of the Germiston Victim Support Unit (VSU) recently received certificates after successfully completing their training.

After months of hard work and training, the first-responders of the Germiston Victim Support Unit (VSU) have received their certificates.

The unit was formed in April, after a gap between the police services and the protection of the victims of crime was identified.

“The VSU is made up of a group of dedicated women, determined to make a difference in their community,” said Jean Ingram, coordinator of the Germiston Victim Support Unit.

The members received their certificates from the Germiston Police Station’s new commander, Brig Nkhensani Lemba, before being treated to a “Bust-a-Burger Surprise” at Copper Canyon Spur, in Lambton.

“We thank the Germiston Police Station for giving us this opportunity to help victims of crime and for their support, as well as Tammy du Plooy and her team from the Alberton VSU for assisting us with training,” said Ingram

Victims of crime who would like the help of the unit can call 062 720 9770 or email to germistonvsu@yahoo.co.za.
