Four men found with hijacked vehicle

Four men were arrested in a recent stop-and-search, when it was discovered they were in possession of a hijacked vehicle.

Four men, aged between 31 and 42, were recently arrested by the Primrose police for being in possession of a hijacked vehicle.

The men and vehicle were discovered in Stanhope Road, during a roadblock.

“Officers were conducting a stop-and-search when they stopped the silver BMW with four occupants.

“The men appeared tense as the police approached them,” said Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

During a search of the vehicle, a pair of registration plates were found in the boot.

The men and the vehicle were taken to the Primrose Police Station for further investigation.

“During the investigation it was revealed that the registration currently on the vehicle was fake, while the registration plates found in the boot were linked to a hijacking case opened with the Bramley SAPS,” said Maome.

Police suspect that the men were in the Primrose area to commit a crime, and they were arrested and detained.

They have since appeared in the Germiston Magistrates Court, where the case was postponed for plea and trial.
