Illegal hawkers flee from EMPD: https://bit.ly/29Tss3u

The EMPD Bumper to Bumper special operations revisited the Germiston CBD in an effort to clean up the illegally obstructed pavements by hawkers refusing to comply with the metro’s by-laws, recently. The operation took place between 2pm and 10pm targeting the problematic High Road, Jack Street, Railway Street, Plantation Road, Park Street and Rand Road.

You said:

  •  Tshepo Phakoe, “EMPD should rather invest their energy in crime prevention. These types of operations are just making more criminals.”
  •  Marcel Okafor, “The metro should rather organise an awareness campaign and educate the hawkers on how to operate legally instead of sweeping them away like angry bees and confiscating their merchandise.”
