A fun look at electricity outages

Even though the Cubs have to make sure they do certain tasks, they have great fun along the way.

Cubs from the First Germiston Cub Pack need to work hard towards attaining all their badges.

To this end Crystal Marais (9), who is working towards her Gold Wolf Advancement badge, had to write a song or a poem and share it with the rest of the pack.

She came up with a poem about the constant electricity outages in Germiston and her Cub leaders enjoyed it so much they wanted to share it.

The poem is entitled “No Electricity” and reads as follows:

“When the lights went out,

“My dog started to pout.

“Mommy started to cry,

“Because she couldn’t get her hair dry.

“Everyone started to rush around,

“And the candles were finally found.

“Dad put the gas stove on,

“And the kettle began steaming a song.

“Everyone started falling asleep,

“And that night was no more bleak.”

The First Germiston Cubs (ages seven to 11) run on a Tuesday from 5.30pm to 7pm, while the Scouts (ages 11 to 18) run on a Thursday from 6.30pm to 8.30pm during government school terms.
