Sergeant congratulated for hard work

Honono Mphumzi has been sentenced to five years in prison for attempted murder.

“The hard work and dedication of Det-Sgt Tshepo Seerane has aided in the conviction of an attempted murderer,” said Primrose SAPS station commander Lieut-Col Albertina Vesi.

Seerane was in charge of the investigation of an attempted murder that took place at the Montevista flats, in Solheim, Primrose, earlier this year.

Honono Mphumzi was found guilty on three counts of attempted murder and sentenced to five years imprisonment on each count.

“As per the terms of Section 280 of the Criminal Procedure Act 51 of 1977, the court orders that the sentence imposed on counts two and three are to run concurrently with the sentence imposed on count one,” explained Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

This means that Mphumzi, who was declared unfit to possess a firearm, will spend only five years behind bars.
