Municipal tariff increases came into effect on July 1, as this marked the beginning of the municipal financial year. Ekurhuleni’s assessment rates have increased by 7.5 per cent, lower than the average rate increase of other metros of 8.1 per cent. Based on Nersa’s approval, the electricity tariff increase is between 7.64 per cent and 9.4 per cent, depending on the consumption level.
