The top four stories on www.germistoncitynews.co.za for the week, July 2 to 8, were:

1. Another accident in the city claims three more lives: https://bit.ly/29kcrzd

Three people died and one was critically injured in a car accident at the corner of Main Reef and Field roads, in Germiston, in the early hours of Thursday morning. ER24 paramedics and other services including the EMPD and Ekurhuleni Disaster and Emergency Services arrived on the scene and found the vehicle that the people were travelling in near a cement block on the side of the road.

2. Councillors take the voices of the people to council regarding power outages: https://bit.ly/299OQnp

Demanding answers to questions about the ongoing power issues, which continue to plunge the city into darkness, the DA has submitted a petition to council demanding the metro give urgent attention to this crisis.

3. Head-on collision kills four, injures six: https://bit.ly/29kagAj

Four people were killed and six others critically injured in an accident involving two light motor vehicles, last Sunday at 3am. The collision took place on Thutong Road which links Katlehong and Vosloorus. Two of the critically injured patients were still trapped in one of the vehicles (a white BMW sedan) involved when rescue teams arrived on scene.

4. Carnival City follows the sun in support of Stop Hunger Now: https://bit.ly/29m13YM

Carnival City has enthusiastically hopped on board in support of Sun International and Stop Hunger Now South Africa’s international meal packaging challenge, Follow the Sun. The event will take place during July to commemorate International Mandela Day. The goal is to pack 10 million meals worldwide, with two million meals to be packed in South Africa at five Sun International sites nationally over a period of seven days starting from July 13 to 20.
