Cachalia takes his seat in council

The DA mayoral candidate for Ekurhuleni, Ghaleb Cachalia, joined councillors from across the metro in his first normal council meeting in the Germiston council chambers.

Councillors of the metro met in the Germiston council chambers for their monthly meeting, last Thursday.

For the DA the meeting marked the first day that mayoral candidate for Ekurhuleni, Ghaleb Cachalia took up his seat in the council chamber.

“Today I take up a DA seat in council, as a statement of intent for the coming election and as a sign of my commitment to the people of the metro,” he said.

“Now from inside council I will be at the coal face of the fight to deliver better services, cut corruption and create jobs in the metro.”

Cachalia, and the DA, plan to continue their election campaign until the elections on August 3, and hope to use the new seat in the council chamber to drive core issues of their election manifesto launched in Wadeville recently.

“We will make the metro work for all residents as we create jobs, stop corruption and deliver services,” Cachalia said.
