Police secure conviction

The Primrose police’s Housebreaking and Theft Task Team was able to secure the conviction of William Victoria for a April business robbery.

William Victoria (31) from the Marathon informal settlement is set to spend three years in prison for business robbery.

He was recently sentenced in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court after being arrested by the Primrose Housebreaking and Theft Task Team.

After a gruelling investigation the detectives, under the leadership of Det-Const Robert Ragoja, were able to link Victoria to a Wisteria Road business robbery, which took place in April.

Victoria was sentenced to spend an additional three months, on top of his three year sentence, for being in the country illegally.

“After he has served his jail sentence he will be deported to his country of origin,” explained Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

The Primrose police’s station commander Lieut-Col Albertina Vesi thanked the community of the Marathon informal settlement for their assistance during the investigation.

“Together we will make Primrose a safer place,” Vesi said.
