Stolen car and unlicensed firearms seized in arrest

Officers from the Ekurhuleni West Cluster recently arrested two men for the possession of unlicensed firearms and a hijacked vehicle.

During an Ekurhuleni West SAPS Cluster station’s stop-and-search operation in Katlehong recently, two men were arrested.

The men aged, 31 and 32 respectively, where charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition, as well as the possession of a hijacked motor vehicle.

“While on patrol officers noticed the black Audi A4.

“After running the vehicle’s registration plates it was discovered that the vehicle had been hijacked in Yeoville last year,” said Capt Mega Ndobe, on behalf of the Ekurhuleni West Cluster.

Officers called for backup before they approached the vehicle, which appeared to have two suspects inside.

During a search of the vehicle and suspects two pistols with 23 rounds of live ammunition were seized.

“The men were arrested and the firearms that were seized were sent to ballistics to determine whether they were used to commit any crimes in the area,” said Ndobe.

The men are expected to appear in court soon.
