Following a series of recent violent housebreakings and a rape the Katlehong police arrested a 29-year-old man.
The man, who matched the description given by the victims, was found in the Kliprivier area with a gunshot wound in his left thigh next to an Isuzu bakkie taken in one of the house break-ins.
“Three men are reported to be involved in the housebreakings which occurred in Sunriseview, Zonkizizwe, Palm Ridge Extension Nine and Eden Park,” said Capt Mega Ndobe, communications officer for the Katlehong police.
“It is alleged that in Eden Park the men stabbed a man and raped a woman during the housebreaking.”
The suspect was taken to hospital under police guard.
“At this stage it is not clear who shot the suspect,” said Ndobe.
He was charged with possession of stolen vehicle and housebreaking and rape.
“We are hunting for the other two men implicated in the crimes,” said Ndobe.
