Busy weekend for Ekurhuleni West Cluster

The Ekurhuleni West Cluster arrested 138 suspects, from June 3 to 5, during several operations throughout the cluster.

Police have arrested 138 suspects, due to several operations in the Ekurhuleni West Cluster area.

The operations were held from June 3 to 5.

The accused were arrested on several charges, including conspiracy to commit business robbery, attempted murder, theft, theft of a motor vehicle, theft of a firearm, possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition and possession of a suspected stolen motor vehicle.

Other charges included fraud, housebreaking, domestic violence, rape, malicious damage to property, assault, intimidation, possession of suspected stolen property, corruption, reckless and negligent driving, driving under the influence of alcohol, shoplifting and dealing in drugs.

A number of suspects were charged with possession of drugs, including dagga and nyaope, for drinking liquor in public and selling liquor without a licence. A number of illegal immigrants were also apprehended.

All the suspects will appear in the Palm Ridge, Germiston and Vosloorus Magistrates Courts soon.

The cluster continues to host operations throughout the area.
