Drugs worth over R20 000 seized

Dagga, heroine and nyaope valued at more than R20 000 seized, two arrested.

Acting on a tip-off regarding a drug dealer, last on Friday afternoon, members of the EMPD Kathorus Crime Prevention Task Team went to an address in Phumula Park Extension Two, near Leondale.

Upon raiding the house, the officers found heroine, nyaope and dagga in the male owner’s bedroom.

“The arrested suspect, aged 36, sang like a canary and led the metro police to his supplier residing in the area,” said Wilfred Kgasago, spokesman for the EMPD.

“Here they found a massive amount of dagga.”

The house raided first is located in Tutlangano Street and was swooped upon at 1.30pm.

The search in this house yielded 10 ziplock bags of heroine, 10 ziplock bags of nyaope and 25kgs of dagga with an estimated street value of R3 000.

The supplier’s house in Kopanaong Street yielded 100kgs of dagga valued at R20 000.

The 44-year-old supplier was arrested.

Both suspects were charged with possession of and dealing in illicit substances at the Alberton Police Station and were expected to appear in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court on May 23.
