Police urge community to set up neighbourhood watch

The Alberton SAPS recently met with the Leondale community.

The police are in the process of consulting the community to find out how they can deliver a better service.

A crime discussion meeting was held by the Alberton SAPS last Saturday, at Leondale High School, where the police and the community discussed the matter of service.

Acting Alberton Vispol head Capt Solomon Matlou and sector manager WO Gideon Mabaso addressed the community about safety issues.

An understanding was reached that the community needs to form a neighbourhood watch that will be active in fighting crime in the area.

The group needs to work closely with the police, without subjecting suspected criminals to mob justice.

Crime meetings are held monthly in Leondale and everyone is welcome to attend.
