Runaway house robber nabbed

Manhunt a success with the arrest of second Makause housebreaking suspect.

In April, a Makause informal settlement resident recently opened a case against his 22-year-old neighbour.

This came after he was allegedly robbed and assaulted by the suspect and another man, unknown to him.

“The complainant explained to officers that he fell asleep with the door open and, when he woke up, he found the men inside his shack,” said Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose Police.

“When the men saw he was awake they allegedly began to assault him and demanded money.”

The men made off with R65 and a cellphone valued at R8 000.

The first man was arrested soon after the crime and appeared in the Germiston Magistrates Court.

The second man has since been arrested by police.

The 29-year-old man was found after officers followed several leads from community members.

“Our community must refrain from committing crimes, because even if you run away we will find and arrest you,” said Maome, communications officer for the Primrose Police.

He will appear in court soon, for a bail application.
