Residents fed up with metro

The residents of Plover Street, in Elspark, were furious when the metro left pruned tree branches and rubble on their pavements.

The Germiston City News received a call from an elderly Elspark resident.

“I am at my wits end; the metro pruned the trees in the area and left the branches on the pavement.

“That was a month ago,” he said.

He explained that each time they reported the matter to the metro residents were told that the pavements would be cleaned and the branches removed, but still nothing had been done.

“If the tree branches are left here any longer I will drag them into the street,” the resident said.

The GCN contacted the metro to find out why the branches and rubble had been left behind and when the pavement would be cleaned.

Themba Gadebe, spokesman for the metro, responded: “During an inspection of the street by metro officials, it was discovered that there are no longer branches or rubble lying on the pavements, although there was evidence of trees having been pruned a while ago, probably a month back.”
