Nurses enjoy their special day

The nurses of the Life Roseacres Hospital were honoured on International Nurses’ Day, celebrated on May 12 across the globe.

International Nurses’ Day is celebrated annually on May 12.

The day recognises the important role that nurses play in providing quality care, with special focus on developing countries where access to health services is often limited.

The Life Roseacres Hospital, in Primrose, joined in the celebration on Thursday.

The hospital organised a special presentation for its nurses, with messages from the management.

Sophie Sibisi, nursing manager, headed the event, reading the messages from the Life Health Group’s management.

“We are lucky to have so many great nurses,” said Sibisi.

“We could not do anything we do without our amazing nursing staff.

“Enjoy the day because it is your day.”

The presentation also offered an opportunity to honour one nurse in particular, who was recently recognised during the Life Health Group’s Great 100 Nurses Celebration.

The celebration is held to honour the top 100 nurses who have made a significant difference to the profession of nursing and in the lives of patients, peers, students and the community at large.

Nominees are judged on professionalism, compassionate care-giving, clinical competence and leadership qualities.

The 100 top great nurses will be nursing ambassadors for Life Healthcare and the nursing profession at large.

Young Nozipho Motha was named as one of the top nurses. She is described as dedicated, strong, energetic and helpful.

She is never afraid to go the extra mile to help.

She always makes time for her patients and is a good all-rounder.
