Last Tuesday, many suburbs in Germiston were once again left without power. The Germiston City News was made aware of the problem and attempted several times to get comment from the metro as to the cause of the outage and when power would be restored.

Power failures are nothing new to Germiston residents. On Friday, May 6, several areas were left without power for most of the day as metro technicians installed a new circuit-breaker at the Germiston North Substation. Residents from other areas, such as Lambton, Tedstoneville, Primrose, Marlands, the Germiston CBD and Elspark, have contacted the GCN on countless occasions in a desperate attempt to find out what is happening. The GCN has contacted the metro each time a power outage has been reported, but often receives no comment.

The Primrose CPF alerted the residents of Germiston to the fact that a number of areas would be without electricity on Friday, May 6. The planned electrical maintenance was due to take place between 8am and 5pm.

The Germiston police opened a suicide docket after the body of Juandre Korf (15) was found in the Lambton area, on Saturday, April 30. Korf went missing from Elsburg on Monday, April 25, and his body was found after a week-long search.

Luso Africa continue to net wins in their Eastern Local Football Association’s (ELFA) super league season. The first team took on Alberton FC at home, on Saturday, April 30, winning 2-1. The fans at Hattingh Park were treated to a tightly contested match, with play being evenly shared between the two teams. The side then travelled to Katlehong, last Saturday, to take on Zwide United. It was a tight affair for the first team, who pulled out all the stops to beat Zwide 4-3.
