Ithembelihle Lsen School in Primrose was thrilled when they received a generous donation from Group Five Projects recently.
The funds were raised through Group Five Projects’ fifth addition of the J2D Charity Cycle Tour.
The J2D Charity Cycle Tour took place from October 14 to 18, 2015, and saw 22 cyclists cycle an estimated 600km from Johannesburg to Durban over the course of five days.
The last leg of the tour was cycled as part of the Amashova Durban Classic Race, which runs from Pietermaritzburg to Durban covering a distance of 106km.
The aim of the initiative was to raise as much as possible for Ithembelihle Lsen School, and a total of R109 438 was raised.
The funds were used by the school to purchase wheelchairs, buggies, crutches and streeters (walking rings) which were given to pre-nominated children at the school.
The group and school thanked the many sponsors who contributed to raising the funds.

The school depends on generous donations such as these as the Department of Education is unable to assist with funding for the school.
