Gate motor theft on the increase

The Primrose CPF and SAPS warn residents of an increase in gate motor theft in the area.

From the beginning of April, 25 electric gate motors have been stolen in Primrose according to the Primrose CPF and SAPS.

“Most of these thefts take place in the mornings between 2am and 5am,” said Wendy Morgan, chairman for the Primrose CPF.

The CPF advises the community to leave yard lights on so that their yards are well lit throughout the night and early morning.

“This limits the places that thieves can hide,” said Morgan.

In addition, residents are asked to ensure that they put protective measures in place for their gate motors, for example a bar can be fitted over the motor making it hard to remove quickly.

“Also ensure that there is a bracket on top of your electric gate so that it cannot be lifted off the rails,” added Morgan.
