The Germiston police are warning the community to be alert and not to become the next victim of a smash-and-grab incident. “Drivers of motor vehicles must adopt the practice of not leaving any valuable items inside their cars while driving. Everything should rather be put inside their boots,” said WO André de Jager, spokesman for the Germiston SAPS.

2. ANC Ekurhuleni volunteers killed, others injured in Free State bus crash: https://bit.ly/1XCKx5f

ANC Ekurhuleni volunteers travelling home after attending the ANC local government manifesto launch in Port Elizabeth were involved in a fatal bus crash in the Free State. According to various emergency services organisations the accident took place on the N1 highway, between Ventersburg and Winburg in the Free State, last Sunday.

The metro set up a Joint Operation Centre for the families of the victims who were involved in a horrific bus accident that claimed 11 Ekurhuleni residents’ their lives, last Sunday. This central place allowed families to receive information concerning their loved ones.

The Alberton SAPS detectives are asking the community for help in identifying a body. The body of an African male was found on the N3, at the Elands interchange, near Germiston, on September 4, last year. The unknown man is dark in complexion and the body is at the Germiston Government Mortuary.

5. Prepare for a spectacular meteor shower: https://bit.ly/1VGj9Gg

The Eta Aquarids meteor shower will start on April 20 and last through May 21, but your best chance to see the meteors will be between May 5 and 7 in the early hours of the morning as this shower will be best seen from the southern hemisphere.
