Police investigate child’s murder

Children and teachers from Ekurhuleni Primary School in Dukathole received counselling from members of the Ekurhuleni West Cluster police stations after the brutal murder of their classmate.

The Germiston SAPS is currently investigating the murder of an 11-year-old girl from Dukathole.

Dimakatso Kgoabane was brutally beaten to death, last Friday, at her home after a stranger allegedly became violent after Kgoabane’s mother refused to assist him in finding someone.

“The suspect first attacked the deceased’s mother and sisters, hitting them with a brick.

“They managed to escape the house, leaving behind the 11-year-old girl,” said WO André de Jager, spokesman for the Germiston SAPS.

The suspect then allegedly grabbed a spade and started to beat the deceased. She was declared dead on the scene.

“No arrests have been made to date. However, the investigating officer is following up on several leads,” said de Jager.

Officers from the Ekurhuleni West Cluster police stations visited Ekurhuleni Primary School in Dukathole, to counsel the children and teachers after the brutal murder of their classmate, last Tuesday.

The team spoke to the children, many of whom, were sobbing.

“We send our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Kgoabane,” said Col Veeshani Arikum, from the Ekurhuleni West Cluster.

“It’s good to grieve, to cry and to show emotions when we lose someone.”

A memorial service was held for Kgoabane at the school on Thursday.

“We will continue to offer our support to the Kgoabane family, as well as to the pupils and teachers of the school,” said Sgt Olga Masethla, from the Ekurhuleni West Cluster.
