“She was a happy, loving, caring person and enjoyed interacting with people.” These are the words of a heartbroken Wendy Liebenberg, after the brutal murder of her grandmother, Marie Sadler (72). Sadler was attacked and killed in the family’s Delville home, while Wendy and her husband, Jaco, were at work. The Germiston SAPS are currently investigating the case, but so far no arrests have been made.

Residents in a number of Germiston suburbs were once again left in the dark recently. Metro technicians carried out repair work to a faulty cable to restore power to the area by the next day. The metro said they are currently in the process of refurbishing and upgrading cables in an effort to strengthen and enhance the electrical network performance in the Germiston area.

Working on a tip-off received from the community about drug dealing, police officers visited a hair salon in Dukathole. Upon their arrival at the business, in Selane Street, the Germiston SAPS crime prevention members found the owner of the salon present. They searched his premises and discovered a bucket containing small black bags filled with dagga, weighing 1.2kg.

A 12-year-old boy is recuperating in hospital after three attackers allegedly cut off his genitals in Ivory Park, near Midrand, in Gauteng. Provincial police spokesperson Lieut Kay Makhubela said the boy was admitted to hospital on Sunday evening after a passerby found him bleeding heavily under a bridge.
