Elderly enjoy some Easter treats
The Help Mekaar Older People projects, together with members of the Ekurhuleni West Cluster police stations, visited the elderly of Dukathole.
Help Mekaar Older People projects started in 2004.
The project, funded by the department of social development under the management of the Germiston Association for the Aged, aims to encourage older people in the Dukathole community to stay healthy and active.
The project currently caters for 35 people.
The SAPS is a great supporter of the project and frequently visits the community to ensure the elderly know and understand their rights, as well as to supply safety tips.
“The SAPS plays a role in securing sponsorship for the project, to make sure that the elderly involved in the project are maintained and that social care is promoted,” said Sgt Olga Masethla, from the Ekurhuleni West Cluster stations.
“We would like to thank Interwaste Environmental Solutions for their continued support of the project.”
The Ekurhuleni West Cluster stations recently visited the project’s 35 members to provide them with some Easter treats.
“We thank Piet van Stapen, from Lambton Spar, for donating two cakes for the gogos to enjoy, and Col Veeshani Arikum for baking delicious cupcakes,” Masethla said.
