1. Pensioner’s ears, nose cut off in brutal murder: https://bit.ly/1Py5Y17

A Delville family is reeling after the brutal murder of a family member last Thursday. The 72-year-woman was stabbed in the stomach and neck and had both her ears and her nose cut off. Capt George Raphulu, head of communications for the Germiston SAPS, said: “The woman’s granddaughter and grandson-in-law left the house at about 8am to go to work and, when the grandson-in-law returned at about 3pm, he found her dead.”

Residents were warned of a planned electricity supply interruption by Eskom, on March 25. The power interruption was planned to take place between 7am to 3pm, but was later cancelled before being implemented.

3. Police nab man after restaurant shooting: https://bit.ly/1XJm0v7

A 24-year-old man was recently arrested in Primrose after a shooting incident in Bedfordview. WO Mduduzi Nhlabathi, communications officer for the Germiston SAPS cluster, told the GCN that the Bedfordview police heard a loud bang coming from just outside the police station at about 5am. “They rushed outside and saw a crowd of people gathering near a restaurant opposite the police station. The police found two men lying in a pool of blood,” said Nhlabathi.”

4. Residents claim cellphone towers are harmful: https://bit.ly/25nu0HK

Cellphone towers are a normal sight in our community. However, some Germiston residents want the towers in their areas removed as they feel that they are detrimental to their health. Nick Smith is one such resident. “My health has been so negatively affected by the cellphone towers in my area that I have to take extended trips to a bush farm to recover,” he said.
