Safety first for young children

Mr ADT visits pupils at Heavenly Flowers Private School to teach the children safety skills.

Mr ADT visited the pupils of Heavenly Flowers Private School recently to teach them safety skills in a fun, entertaining and non-threatening way.

Darren McDowell, who is better known amongst the children as Mr ADT, focused on important issues with funny jokes and the use of props.

The comprehensive and powerful safety awareness education programme for school children is sponsored by ADT and goes a long way in making children aware of issues pertaining to their safety.

Some of the topics included, not ingesting any pills or liquids without asking your parents first, dangers in the kitchen and the danger of electrocution, fire safety, how to behave around dogs, the danger of playing with guns and what to do in the case of a home invasion or hijacking.

The pupils were also educated about what constituted good and bad touching, how to use panic alarm buttons, not to open the door to strangers, and the importance of knowing a parent’s contact details and other emergency numbers.

Children are never too young to be educated and made aware of the dangers that exist in our society.

They need to be empowered to be able to protect themselves in a dangerous situation or to call for help.
