Woman assaulted with a sjambok

A man was recently arrested by the Primrose police after he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend.

The Primrose police recently arrested a 43-year-old man and charged him with assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

The arrest was made in the Delport informal settlement after the accused allegedly assaulted his girlfriend with a sjambok and his fists after an argument about their late child’s burial.

“Realising that her boyfriend did not want to bury the child, the complainant decided to pack her bags and leave him.

“It was then he allegedly begun to beat her,” said Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

He has since appeared in the Germiston Magistrates court where his case was postponed.
