Primrose police and paramedics recently raced to the Marathon informal settlement after receiving reports that a man had been found in a pool of blood.
The 32-year-old victim was declared dead on the scene and police started a hunt for his attacker.
“Investigations continued and on the same morning the suspect was cornered and arrested,” said communications officer for the Primrose police, Sgt Styles Maome.
The 29-year-old man was held at the Primrose Police Station pending his appearance in court.
“We thank the members of the community who played a role in the arrest of the suspect,” said Maome.
The man has since appeared in the Germiston Magistrates Court, where his case was postponed for a bail application.
