Seven night-time speedsters nabbed in Leondale

EMPD officers target speedsters.

EMPD Speed Law Enforcement Unit members were out in full force recently.

They targeted motorists not observing the speed limit on Nedervene Road in Leondale (a 70km/h zone), between 6pm and midnight.

Between 6.30pm and 10pm, seven drivers were locked up for speeding.

All seven of the arrested drivers claimed that they were rushing home to rest after a long day at their places of employment.

The highest speedster was clocked at 129km/h and the second highest at 126km/h.

The rest of the arrested drivers were caught doing 118, 115, 114, 112 and 113km/h.

Charges of reckless and negligent driving were laid against the drivers and they are expected to appear in the Palm Ridge Magistrates Court soon.

They were all released after posting bail of R1 000 each.
