A concerned mother is warning young girls to be careful while they are out walking. “There is a man operating in the Sunnyridge, Dawnview, Symhurst and Primrose areas who is harassing young girls,” she said. “The man approached my daughter and her friends, offered them kat and then made offensive sexual remarks to them. He is a danger to young women and they must be careful.”

2. Police name smash-and-grab hot spot areas: https://bit.ly/1LrjuDi

The Germiston SAPS have identified a number of smash-and-grab hot spot areas in their policing district. They are warning the community to be alert and on their guard when driving, especially in these areas.

3. New modus operandi used by criminals to hijack vehicles: https://bit.ly/1XsIgKe

The Germiston SAPS is warning the community to be aware of their surroundings at all times out on the roads. They are also urged to be extra careful when pulling into their driveways and waiting for the gate to open, or for someone to come and open the gate manually. There has been an increase in hijacking cases reported in the Germiston area.

4. Police officer and five others nabbed for hijacking: https://bit.ly/1TwwrlL

Six men, including a police officer, have been arrested after a night-time raid. The suspects were apprehended by members of the Germiston EMPD Task Team and the Germiston SAPS Detective Branch. Officers also recovered a hijacked VW Polo, as well as a 9mm pistol with the serial numbers filed off.
