Comment on the Integrated Development Plan for Ekurhuleni

The last budget for the 2011-2016 term of office for Ekurhuleni will be tabled on April 28.

On April 28, the budget for the Ekurhuleni Metro will be tabled for approval.

It will be the last budget tabled for the 2011-2016 term of office.

In line with Section 16 of the Municipal Financial Management Act, the draft IDP (Integrated Development Plan) and budget for the metro’s 2016/17 – 2018/19 financial period have been tabled for noting by the council.

The IDP is a process through which municipalities prepare a strategic development plan, which extends over a five-year period.

It includes the planning, budgeting, resource allocation and decision-making processes within the municipality, as well as the public participation process.

This means that members of the public and other interested stakeholders have the chance to comment on the metro’s draft 2016/17-2018/19 IDP and 2016/17- 2018/19 municipal budget.

To do this, copies of the draft IDP and budget can be viewed at all pay points and public libraries within the Ekurhuleni area, or they can be viewed on the metro’s website, at www.ekurhuleni.gov.za.

Any interested parties can comment on the documents by:

  • completing a comment form at any of the points where the documents are available for viewing;
  • filling in the form electronically on the website;
  • e-mailing comments to Budgettips@ekurhuleni.gov.za.

The Budget Tips campaign runs from March 1 to 31.

During the month of the Budget Tips campaign, public meetings will be held in all customer care areas across the metro, where the proposed IDP and budget will be presented.

Members of the public will have the opportunity to engage with the metro at these meetings, and also to make comments on the proposed budget.
